Sixties Addition

An unusual single story property in a very contemporary style for the 60’s.

It is hidden away in the delightful village of Compton amongst the setting of the surrounding properties of much earlier periods.

The property was clearly designed in a modern theme in rectangular modules, with a link to the past with flint plinth walling, large landscape windows and timber cladding to accentuate the length of the building.

The result is a very modern design, providing spacious rooms filled with the surrounding garden and landscape.

We were commissioned to add a further wing to the property and remodel the interior of the kitchen to allow flow and circulation to the property.

The property interior has a distinct influence of teak throughout and the kitchen has an element of a yacht’s galley which some may recognise.

We constructed the addition to match the existing property in every respect using black knapped flints bedded in soft lime mortar, cedar boarding above and bespoke landscape windows.

This provided our clients with a larger kitchen, additional bedroom, hallway and a link to the main reception room.

It was constructed exactly to their requirements and we were all delighted with the result.
