This delightful Arts and Crafts property is situated in Empshott, Hampshire.
Sympathetic conservation works and careful remodelling were required where the property had been extended to the rear. Bespoke external joinery was replaced together with the formation of new window openings, all purpose-made to match the original.
Alterations to the ground floor involved the creation of a large family room with a new bespoke kitchen. To enable this space, a central wall required demolition involving the needling and support of walling above to allow the insertion of a high strength steel universal column. Once in place, walls and ceilings were replaced, sub flooring installed to allow limestone flooring laid throughout the room.
The first floor bedroom and bathroom above was remodelled with new partitioning together with the restoration of fine plaster finishes and internal joinery and the installation of new fitments and finishes.
The entrance hall and stairs joinery had become weak from past alterations and required careful restoration works to enable the components to be secured to the perimeter fabric.
Domestic plumbing, central heating and electrical systems were designed and installed to suit new requirements and arrangements. The interior and exterior were carefully decorated in Farrow and Ball paints.
Such an unusual property – we were grateful for the opportunity to be involved in the project.
